General Introduction Tagare is a leading international manufacturer of electric substations, which are designed for home, industrial and commercial users. Tagare's core product line includes Medium Voltage (MV) dry contact switchgear, MV circuit breaker disconnectors and continuously operated self-resetting circuit breakers (COB), both with rated voltage up to 230 kV. The company also manages the operation of power plants in Southeast Asia through its subsidiary - PT Abadi Energi Indonesia. Furthermore, Tagare is an authorized manufacturer for Siemens AG in Indonesia. Tagare offers a range of units to meet the power consumption requirements of customers. It manufactures transformers, controllable power supplies, feeder control units, power factor correction devices for industrial applications and various electrical equipment. The company also provides customized products for specific customer applications. Tagare has production facilities in Indonesia and Vietnam, as well as sales offices in Germany, Singapore, Thailand and the United States. Tagare's history began in 1955 with the development of electric substations for industrial large-scale users. As the company prospered through the 1960s and 1970s, Tagare began focusing on boilers used by paper mills to generate steam for their production processes. In the late 1970s, Tagare developed its first dry contact switchgear, namely medium voltage switchgear for Indonesia's power system. During the 1980s and early 1990s, Tagare diversified into industrial and commercial power substations and power factor correction devices for industrial applications. In 1995, Tagare entered the medium voltage transformer market by introducing a range of controlled-output transformers. In 1996, Tagare's subsidiary - PT Abadi Energi (AED) was founded to manage Sime Darby Power Plant in West Java. In 1998, Tagare was granted approval as an authorised Siemens distributor in Indonesia. In 1999, Tagare introduced its first MV circuit breaker disconnectors. In 2000, the company purchased 100% interest of NST Electric, the leading medium voltage switchgear supplier in Vietnam. The acquisition of NST Electric allowed Tagare to expand its sales coverage for medium voltage switchgears to Vietnam, Laos and Cambodia. Later on, during 2001-2002, PT Abadi Energi purchased two thermal power plants with installed capacity of 880 MW each through a management contract from PT PLN (Persero). Tagare continued developing new products to meet customer requirements. During 2004-2005, Tagare launched medium voltage dry contact switchgear with negative bus bar connection option to improve lightning protection system performance. In 2006, Tagare diversified its business by focusing more on the development of core products and started to sell electrical equipment suitable for industries such as rolling mills, foundries and smelters. In 2007, Tagare introduced a new series of medium voltage transformer with frequency convertor-less configuration which allowed customers to save money on their installation costs. Later in 2008, Tagare introduced a new series of medium voltage circuit breaker disconnectors with multi-function remote control panel. In 2010, Tagare introduced a wide range of MV switchgear products with integrated protective relays into a single dry contact barrier design.
